Learning how to draw/ paint and some inpsiration

I have never seen myself as a talented drawer or painter whatsoever.
As a kid I used to paint a lot and I love seeing the things I used to do, as there is something really beautiful about childhood drawings, they are done with innocence, without having this haunting idea of what the final work needs to look like, without putting to much head in it.

As I grew older, I really lost my confidence about my drawing skills (mainly because puberty and some not so encouraging teachers...) and besides one or another try to resume the habit (resulting in some really awkward anime drawings I shall never show anyone) I never really started again.

This was until recently, when I decided that it was definitely time to learn how to draw properly, since I was about to start to study Fashion Design and I really needed to improve. And now- about a year after - hardly a day goes by where I don't paint, draw or at least look up paintings and artists for inspiration. I feel like  drawing is something really personal, and therefore I am hardly ever happy with the result (there is nothing worse than comparing your work to the one of other people, and I do that constantly). Nevertheless it is also incredibly rewarding to be able to reflect all these ideas on a paper, to see how you can create something new out of nothing.

Since I started to practice more and more, I feel like the way of seeing the world around me changed completely: Everything is made out of shapes, lines, curves, contrasting and complementary colors, which I never had seen before that clearly. Last week I went to the MAMBA (Museo de Arte Moderno Buenos Aires) in San Telmo and I got so much pleasure out of the artist's works, the beauty or idea behind it.

So in that spirit, here is a little list of some artists  that I really like; they are not categorized but simply here because I enjoy their work for various reasons, and I thought maybe you would enjoy them too. :)

/1 Banksy - graffiti artist
/2 Jesse Draxler - artist, illustrator and designer
/3 John Singer Sargent - painter
/4 Chamo San - illustrator
/5 Gerhard Richter - visual artist
/6 Marina Decaro - argentinian artist
/7 Ray Pettibon - artist known for his comic- like drawings

Are you into drawing/ painting or some other sort of art? Are there any artists you would like to recommend?

Do it Yourself: Quick 5 Minutes Geometric Print for T-shirts

Here it is, my first proper youtube video. Yesterday I spend all day editing (I must admit that I got a little obsessed) but I am really happy with the result. It was incredibly fun (even if a little frustrating at times, but only because of my lack of knowledge with imovie) so more videos are definitely coming up! I won't be talking in them though (at least for the time being), I am just way to scared to do that.

This Do it Yourself is a really quick geometric print for t-shirts (as well as bags or whatever you want to make - I feel like it would also look really cool on a tote bag). You can chose whatever shape you prefer (I did another one with a triangle).

I think the video is pretty clear but in case something wasn't, here are some quick instructions:

/1 Materials needed: Ruler, pencil, tape, shirt (or bag), textile marker
/2 Draw the shape you want to make
/3 Put carefully tape around your shape
/4 Place a carton inside the shirt to avoid the marker to transfer
/5 Start drawing vertical lines - they don't need to be perfect
/6 Remove the tape

By the way I am currently having an obsession with the kind of curled up sleeves on oversized t-shirts like the one on my video, so I have been wearing this shirt literally for three days in a row now (I know that is kind of gross but meh) and now I am desperately looking for a version of the same-style tee but with marine (blue and white) stripes. So if you happen to know where I can find something like this, let me know! :) And since this is the first video I made and I am trying to learn as much as posible from the experience, any constructive criticism is also very welcome!

/1 Materiales: regla, lápiz, cinta, remera (o bolso), marcador textil

Changes & Updates

Picture from Tumblr.

Hey! Here I am again. A lot happened since the last time I showed up on my blog, which was more than two months ago. During the last couple of weeks one big idea has been growing inside me and started to take more and more shape: I am looking for other universities outside Argentina, seeing what I can find, where I can see myself and what I can and cannot afford. A new change in my life - maybe, if I decide to jump. I actually feel like I am in this big loophole of nothing and I have no idea what lies before me. I change my mind every minute or so, start to get really exited about the idea of moving out, living alone on the other side of the globe, and suddenly I get overwhelmed by doubts and fear. I guess it is impossible to know which will be the best decision, and the only thing I can do is to try. Being a grown up is kind of terrifying and incredibly exciting at the same time.

I decided to give this blog a completely new approach. I realized that I used to create content based on what I thought the readers might find interesting - but on the meantime I completely forgot to enjoy the process. I ended up pushing myself into it, always trying to guess what the reaction of the person on the other line might be. The only thing it really led me to, was that I lost the pleasure of blogging, which used to be something I really really enjoyed. So from now on this will be a lot more personal, random and will probably have a lot more grammatical errors (sorry). I will also write in three languages (spanish, german and english); sometimes there will be a translation  and sometimes there wont't be one. I just want to make this blog really my own, I want to connect with people around the globe,  share actual ideas and thoughts. So if there won't be anyone left reading the stuff I write, it will be also ok.

So, this is all I have to say for now. I wish you all a nice weekend! It is nice to be back.

P.S. For the people who asked in the comments and in case someone is still interested: I named my blog Mucculunga because that's what my father used to call me when I was little (yes I know, weird, but my younger brother was Muck so I was Mucculunga). Mucculunga is some sort of "childhood nickname" - the double c (MuCCulunga) is just for aesthetic reasons.

Preview: DIY video

So last weekend me and my friend (and official photographer of Mucculunga) spend some of our time filming my first ever DIY video. It is not the first youtbe video we made, but the other one was a OOTD which I really like, but still think can use some improvement.  I will be editing a lot for the next couple of days/weeks depending on how much this takes (the other one was edited by my friend!) so please be patient with me... I have really no clue what I am doing.
On the other hand, I wanted to ask for some opinion about the content of this blog: I have been thinking about writhing some more "beauty related" posts, like stuff about nailpolishes and how to maintain your (orange/reddish) haircolor but I am not so sure about it yet. I used to really enjoy reading these beauty related stuff when I was younger - before I got more and more interested into fashion and art - but nowadays there seems to be such an overflow of these kind of topics that I almost feel like I can't really add something new. However, if you are interested in reading about something related to this, I would definetly write something. Just let me know and have a nice week!

Personal projects- Fashion Design

I kind of like the idea of using my blog as a platform to showcase my work (besides other stuff, of course). I study fashion design in Buenos Aires, and I feel like it is really important to put myself out there, instead of hiding the things I do. Fashion is a really difficult and competitive business (of course it is also very fun and creative one), and this is something that scares me a lot -  and (unhealthy) pressure and self-doubt are the biggest enemies of creativity.
Anyways, I am working on a trendboard right now of my last year collection (which you can see here), as well as on my collection for this year, which needs to be inspired by the car brand Audi. For the first step of this research I have been watching Fashion Shows nonstop. The picture above are a compilation of images (colors, shapes and details) that specially cached my eye.
I will keep you updated as my projects evolve.

:) FACEBOOK // TWITTER // INSTAGRAM // BLOGLOVIN // LOOKBOOK

Outfit - A-Line Skirt & Summertime

Estoy usando: Pollera -  Vintage, Musculosa - H&M, Zapatos - Regalo, Collar - Artesanos

// Here in Argentina we are very far from summer (today is a rainy, cold day) but since I am just missing summer, I wanted to share this pictures with you today, which I took last summer. My hair is not hot pink anymore, it is some kind of redish-brown color.
This long weekend I am planing on filming a DIY video (which I have been postponing for a very long time - mostly because I have been a little afraid to do it and also because I didn't have the time). There are also two more DIY's coming, so this is what you will be seeing in this blog for the next couple of weeks! :) I am wearing: Skirt - Vintage, Shirt - H&M, Shoes - Gifted, Necklace - flea market

Tavi is my Queen

“I think the question of what makes a strong female character often goes misinterpreted, and instead we get these two-dimensional superwomen who maybe have one quality that’s played up a lot, like a Catwoman type, or she plays her sexuality up a lot, and it’s seen as power. But they’re not strong characters who happen to be female. They’re completely flat, and they’re basically cardboard characters. The problem with this is that then people expect women to be that easy to understand, and women are mad at themselves for not being that simple, when, in actuality, women are complicated, women are multifaceted — not because women are crazy, but because people are crazy, and women happen to be people." - Tavi Gevinson
“I realized recently that when we think about personal identity, when we imagine ourselves, we picture ourselves from the outside. You see your face and your body through the world’s eyes instead of what to me is a more accurate representation of who you are, and that’s the world through your eyes. […] When I feel purely a set of eyes I’m at my happiest.”
Tavi Gevinson
Pictures from tumblr.

I should actually be reading for university right now, but instead I find myself browsing through one my favorite websites: Rookie Mag.
Even if this online magazine, founded by writer, magazine editor, actress and singer Tavi Gevinson (17!) is supposed to be for young teenagers, I feel very touched by its content. The layout is beautiful, the articles are interesting and often very deep and the images are incredibly inspiring. I think I have been following Tavi Gevinson since her early beginnings at her blog when she was only about eleven years old, and she has been a huge inspiration and role model for myself (which is an odd thing to say, considering she is three years younger than me, but she has achieved so much already!). I think she addresses a lot of subjects our generation is dealing with right now, specially young women.
Anyways, I should really get back to my university readings now, so excuse me that I won't be able to translate this into spanish.
Les deseo una linda semana!

Día de los muertos

I know, there are still a few months left before October, but I still wanted to share this picture with you, which was inspired by the mexican Day of the Dead skulls. Avery good friend and talented photographer took it some time ago, (when my hair was still very short) and I really like the result. Anyways, I hope you had a nice weekend!

Current inspiration: Gerhard Richter

Beautiful paintings by german artist Gerhard Richter. I specially love his overpainted photographs. His works are currently a big inspiration for my personal collection for university (I study fashion design if you didn't know). I really enjoy the mix of different mediums in order to create interesting artwork. If you want to see more of him, I really recommend you to visit his website (

Lollapalooza 2014

pictures from tumblr.

//In a couple of days, the festival Lollapalooza arrives finally to Argentina. I have bought the tickets back in October last year (which was a good decision, since it was half the prize) and now there is less then a week left! Since I have no idea what to wear, here is a little compilation of festival outfits I collected. Everyone has seen outfit pictures from coachella (and other festivals) about a dozen of times, but they still work as a great inspiration!

Women = Objects?

OOTD - Pink & Mustard

My obsession with the color mustard actually started with the purchase of a Complot nail polish about a year and a half ago, and it just has been getting worse since then. I feel like yellow is in general a really underrated color and mustard is the (less in your face) version I can actually pull off with my fair skin. These pictures where taken a while ago by a friend of mine (who is kind of the official photographer of absolutely all my outfit and profile pictures since I can remember) but the weather right now is perfect for this kind of outfit.

Blazer - Moschino
Crop Top - H&M
Skinnies - Thrifted
Shoes - gifted

DIY inspiration - Chanel Backpack

Image from tumblr.

I just wanted to quickly share this image with you. I feel like this Chanel backpack is everything: The sophistication that comes along with the Chanel logo, the washed-out fabric and specially colorful the one strap holster that enables you to wear the backpack on just one shoulder. It is completely out of discussion that I will ever be able to buy this beauty, but I feel like it serves a great DIY inspiration. Backpacks are in my opinion so much more comfortable and casual than bags and I feel like a washed-out, vintage looking would be perfect to dress down every look. Now I only need to find a (secondhand) backpack, some dye and some colorful thread! What do you think of this DIY inspiration? Do you prefer backpacks or bags?

Brazil- Part II

Here is the second part of my experience in Brazil. The first picture is the view from our apartment (it was amazing) and also my first attempt doing High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography. The other two are from two little fisher boats.
Brazil is a beautiful country, with amazing nature, reaaaaaally nice people and great food (going to the fruit compartment in the supermarket is like entering paradise). I also visited Rio, but to be honest the only nice picture I took was from the Christ (it was very hot that day), and I didn't want to include this image since everyone has seen it at least a hundred times in their life.
Personally I preferred the little islands we drove to with a fisher boat over the big famous beaches full of people (like the ones in Rio de Janeiro and also some in Ilha Grande). Although I can imagine that the carnaval in Rio must be really fun!

Stockholm Street style

Images from tumblr.

So, I am back from sunny Brazil and arrived in Buenos Aires. In a couple of days University starts again, and while I am still enjoying the free time left, I am spending my saturday afternoon in the best way possible: Watching all the Catwalk shows I missed during my vacations.
Right now I am going through Swedish brands like Cheap Monday, Whyred and Filippa K so I thought I would share with you some beautiful Street Style images form Stockholm Fashion Week. Have a lovely weekend!

Tumblr inspiration

My tumblr is like a personal collection of random stuff I like and images that inspire me. Right now this includes fandom stuff about Doctor Who, Sherlock and (of course) Taylor Momsen's , Matt Smith's and Benedict Cumberbatch's gorgeous faces, as well as fashion related stuff, art and random pictures. I would love to be able to go back to my tumblr page in a couple of years and just be able see what appealed to me at that very moment. It's a little bit like a personal visual diary I keep.

So here is a little collection I did of what is on my tumblr right now, and in case you want to follow me, here is the link.

Brazil - First impressions

While Fashion Week is going around the world and the internet is overflowing with pictures, blogposts and comments on the different shows, I have been staying in Brazil enjoying the beautiful islands, the beach, and (of course) the amazing food. I had actually planed on writing a proper review about my personal favorites and I specially wanted to include a blogspost about Stockholm Fashion Week (since I am a sucker for nordish Fashion Design!) but the slow internet here has made this impossible (it is incredible frustrating to see only slow loading images of amazing catwalks like Mary Katranzou, Alexander Wang and Phillip Lim - just to name a few). Anyways,  I actually have nothing to complain about and on the meantime here are my first impressions of Brazil!  Next week I will be visiting Rio, so more pictures are following! Have an amazing week!

DIY - Geometric Tee

Some time ago I posted an outfit featuring this Geometrical Tee I did myself. After some technical issues (involving illustrator and photoshop not working anymore) here is finally the tutorial. It is very easy to do and I included a link with the geometric mandala I created in case you want to use the same, but of course you can do it with every kind of print! All you need is pen and ruler (or a printer if you want to use the download version), a perforation cutter and a black textile marker.

1 - Create the desired print (or print this geometric mandala HERE)
2 - Pin the design on your t-shirt
3/ 4 - Follow the lines with the perforation cutter, leaving slight marks on the surface of the t-shirt. When finished, follow these perforations with your black marker.

Haute Couture: Chanel, Dior, Elie Saab

After a looooong time of absence, here I am again with a new blogpost. The main reason I haven't been posting in the last couple of weeks is actually a simple one: I approach this blog as a personal hobby; sometimes I feel really inspired and it's the only thing I can think of, and other times I just don't feel like I have anything interesting to say or to show you for weeks.
However, the last days I have been reading a lot of different opinions on the Haute Couture Spring/Summer collections of 2014, I loved the shows and wanted to share my thoughts on some of them.

First of all, my favorite: Chanel. I loved the silhouettes and proportions, the way the models sprinted down the stairs and didn't look dead at all but rather seemed to have fun. I specially loved the pastel colors and how the structured clothes contrasted with the sneakers the models were wearing.

I read a lot of criticism about Dior's collection, about it being "boring" and how the great era of Dior was definitely over. I agree that it lacked a little bit of the "wow-effect" Haute Couture should have, specially compared to the theatrical designs we are used to see from when John Galliano was still creative director. Nevertheless, I liked this minimalistic approach and there were some pieces I really enjoyed.

On the other hand, while everyone seems to be loving Elie Saab, it just doesn't say anything to me. The dresses are without question beautiful and seemed to be taken of a fairy tale, and I would die to be able to wear something that beautiful at least one time in my life, but I personally just don't feel this kind of princess aesthetic. I rather much prefer to see more bizarre, risky outfits.

I also wanted to share with you the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring Summer Prêt-à-porter Fashion Show, because I think he is the only designer that can pull off a show that weird, messy and (kind of) tasteless, that still remains beautiful, interesting and very entertaining. (On the other hand, I wasn't really a big fan of the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Collection).
